    1. What resources would you suggest that the committee use to guide the development of the middle school?

A good resource that I would suggest to enhance the development of the middle school would be to insist that all corresponding teachers create an online communication board. This communication board will consist of monthly lesson plans, test dates, activities, homework’s, and themes. Teachers will also be required to schedule bi-weekly meetings to discuss any inconveniences, lack of ideas, share lesson topics, etc.
Another good resource would be to suggest that all teachers have a one designated morning activity titled, “Something About Me”, in which the students are asked to bring in three or four items that would give an insight of who they are. For example, a coloring pencil because they like to color or their native flag because of their culture. Teachers will also be required to participate in this activity. Not only will this help both student and teachers to know something about each other but also students will be able to form unlikely friendships.
    2. What do you see as the greatest barrier to accomplishing the goal?

The greatest barrier that I can perceive me encountering in accomplishing these goals would be to have hindering teachers. These teachers are teachers whom refuse to collaborate with one another to both enhance and facilitate their student’s educational experience. These teachers just do the minimal work necessary and are unresponsive to their colleagues and students needs.
    3. What do you believe will be the greatest challenge for the teachers in transitioning to a middle school?
The greatest challenge I think teachers who are transitioning to middle school may encounter is adjusting to the new environment. They have fit among the other teachers and hope to find collaborating teachers. Another challenge they may face has to create all new lessons from scratch for a whole new group of unknown students.

    1. I think that the committee should implement various clubs, sports, and activities that are available for the students attending middle school. Applying these extra-curricular activities gives these students a place to go where they could feel like they belonged and were welcomed by a group of individuals. Another resource that middle schools should execute is having specialized teachers for specific classes, in order to ensure that kids are learning from teachers who are concentrated in a certain subject. In addition having students’ stay with the same groups of kids and switching to different teachers, allows for these students to create bonds and form relationships with their peers. One of the most important resources that I think middle schools should use is having the teachers work as a team. This helps ensure that the students are not overwhelmed of loaded with work, and have their subjects intermingle to help grasp the concepts being taught. Adding these resources into the middle school aids in the transition that these students undergo during these crucial years.
    2. Personally I think that the biggest barrier to accomplishing the goal for middle schools is the teacher collaboration. I believe that this is the most important and effective resource that can be implemented into the middle schools. Having teachers that work as a team and form methods and ways to help meets kids unique needs both emotionally and cognitively.
    3. I believe that the greatest challenge for teachers’ in the transition to middle school is working as a team and forming lesson plans that intertwine and meet both the emotional needs of the students as well as their cognitive needs.
